follow, unfollow, or block

In church this week, the pastor said something that led me to a thought:

You know how on Facebook you can follow people, unfollow people, or block people? There's even a feature that you can use to see a certain person's posts first.

So think of Facebook as our life for a minute.
Who we want to see first and follow is God & Jesus.

We should follow anything (anyone) that lifts us in spirit and reminds us of who we are (children of God), and reminds us of the things that are positive and true. 

We should unfollow anyone/anything that causes us to stray in the least, or causes our thoughts to drift to the wrong things. 

And of course, we should completely block Satan.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things. - Philippians 4:8

Open & closed doors, free will and trust

Today I was chatting with my sister about open and closed doors. I believe that we constantly have doors in front of us and it's like we're in a long hallway.  Those doors represent choices that we can make (or not make) based on the options offered behind them. Some of the doors are wide open, some are partially opened and some are closed (but keep in mind that those closed doors may open later when the time is right but when they're closed they're not for us right at that time). Then, my thoughts went to free will. We all have it. But sadly, as human beings we tend to be a little stupid sometimes and we want our way. Sometimes instead of choosing what would be the logical thing, which would be an open door - and if there is more than one open door, the right open door, which we have to figure out ourselves. What I hope to accomplish...

I decided to try to start faithfully blogging. There's no guarantee that I'll stick with it, but in my heart, I hope I do. I've tried stuff like this before and never formed the habit. I'm easily distracted, and totally unmotivated. Those two things are a recipe for disaster, lol.  What I really need to do is write a book. But that means that I would need to find someone who would follow me around and ask me questions about my life because the things that randomly pop in my head are all out of order and all messed up. I doubt that's going to happen, so I guess this is the next best thing. I will write about my life, but my reasoning isn't to draw attention to myself. My reasoning is to stress the lessons that were learned because of the situations presented.  Even though life has been hard, it's not something that I want to be a cry and whine type thing. Onward to the juice fast!

Yesterday I decided to go ahead and fall into a juice fast since I got paid.  I purchased all organic fruit and all organic vegetables. My grocery bill was higher than it usually is on getting enough food to hopefully make it through 2 weeks. My rationalization is, this is for my health, and how do we put a price on that?  Right now, I desperately need to be saving money for my future and retirement because it's going to be rough, but I have to trust God to provide for me as needed. My health is much more important and I could die tomorrow, who knows? If I do, then yay! I'm ready! Juicing is interesting. I hate to waste anything, so the juice that I make creates the pulp that grinds out of the juicer. With vegetable pulp, I make a vegetable broth and I do end up having to throw out all the pulp that was in the broth, but that broth is what I use in the evening that I heat up.
